Bandhgala, also known as a Jodhpuri suit is for Indian men like a
tuxedo is for foreign men. Bandhgala suit is classical ethnic wear for men,
very famous in Indian society. And not just that, it has also become famous
across borders, in various other countries. It is a suit made from Indian
patterns and designs and is closed with a buttons till the neck. Bandhgala can
be worn at a variety of occasions, thus, not limiting its options. One of the
examples of an occasion is a Business conference or a business event. When
attending such an event or when organizing one, men have to dress with style so
as to impress the crowd, especially if royal families are also present. Such
events give men a chance to shine and dress to impress. It is for such
occasions that a Bandhgala is made.
Dark coloured Bandhgala outfits, like Navy blue or black, suit
such occasions. Adding a pair of cufflinks to the outfit add even more charm to
it. Keep in mind to wear black formal shoes only for such an event. Lastly, a
pocket square, though not necessary, definitely completes the look. Another
example is at Derby match. Bandhgala was originated by the Jodhpur polo team.
It became their fashion statement. Polo is a game played by the royal families
and thus when bandhgala was worn with Jodhpur bottoms, it was quite loved by
the royal families. Another reason for Bandhgala being also known as a jodhpuri
suit because it’s originated there. As for the derby match, colours like khaki,
brown, beige, tan, military green, etc. will suit the occasion. The choice of
footwear matters a lot with this kind of outfits. These days it is not just
women going shoe shopping. Shoe shopping has become equally important for men
too. At a Derby match, tan coloured shoes will be a perfect match for a brown
shade bandhgala. Also, since the event takes place in an open area, sunglasses
become necessary and give poise and stylish look to the man wearing the outfit.
Last but not least, weddings and wedding functions are also perfect occasions
for wearing bandhgala suit. It is probably the most appropriate event too. In
fact, due to this, most men have a misconception that Bandhgala is worn only at
such events and not anywhere else.

Coming to the occasion of a wedding, a bandhgala
suit is worn with a round collared kurta for men underneath. For the lower,
there are many options. Few of them are pajama, chudidar, jeans, pants, etc. As
for weddings, all the colours go perfectly well, but bright and contrasting
colours are suggested. Men prefer to wear jewellery like a gold bracelet and
gold chain to give a royal look to the outfit. Though jewellery does give a
dashing look, yet one must remember to not overdo it. As for the footwear,
kolhapuri chappal or shoes perfectly match this outfit and go well with the
occasion.
